We are seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to lead our HR function and help shape the future of our organization and culture.
Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources is a key member of the bank’s leadership team, responsible for designing, executing, and overseeing all HR strategies and programs. This role leads all areas of HR including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, policy development, compliance, and organizational development. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, capable of providing leadership while managing day-to-day HR operations in a growing financial institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as strategic HR advisor to executive leadership, contributing to organizational planning, culture, and workforce strategy.
- Lead and manage the HR team, ensuring high performance and continuous development.
- Oversee full-cycle recruitment and retention strategies to attract top talent and reduce turnover.
- Administer compensation and benefits programs; evaluate competitiveness and recommend adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with federal and Missouri state employment laws, banking regulations, HR policies, and internal controls.
- Develop, implement, and update HR policies, employee handbook, and procedures.
- Lead performance management processes, including evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
- Drive initiatives that support employee engagement, leadership development, and training.
- Manage HRIS systems and ensure accurate reporting, data integrity, and analytics for leadership.
- Oversee employee relations with fairness, professionalism, and discretion.
- Serve as project leader on HR-related initiatives, audits, vendor management, and system improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably within banking or financial services.
- Strong understanding of employment law, regulatory requirements, and HR best practices.
- Proven experience managing HR teams and programs in an organization of similar scale.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build trust and credibility at all levels of the organization.
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification highly preferred.
